When Are Tooth Fillings Necessary?

When the surface of a tooth has been damaged or destroyed by decay or trauma, a filling can save the tooth. Otherwise, you may lose it and need an artificial tooth. The tooth filling will prevent the spread of decay, and fillings are available that will look like your natural teeth. Your dentist will recommend the most suitable filling for your tooth; not all dental fillings will be suitable for all teeth. Call our Rockledge office if you need more information or to schedule an office visit.

Are Dental Crowns and Bridges Really Important?

Crowns and bridges are important appliances that will restore function and aesthetics to your teeth. A tooth crown is used when a tooth needs a very large filling. Dental crowns are sometimes called dental caps and they cover the tooth from the top to the gum. They’re a permanent installation and are installed with a very strong cement. Bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth and can be used anywhere in the jaw. Different types of bridges are used for different types of teeth and different locations. It also makes a difference whether there are adjacent teeth that can serve as anchors for the bridge or whether implants need to be installed. If you need crowns for teeth or a tooth bridge, call our Rockledge office at (321) 252-0825 to get more information or to schedule an appointment.

What Type of Dentist Installs Bridges, Crowns, and Fillings?

Bridges, crowns, and fillings are considered to be general dentistry and all of the restorative dentists in our Rockledge office can perform these procedures. We can refer you to a specialist if there’s an unusual procedure that you need but generally, we can accommodate our patients’ dental needs. Call us at (321) 252-0825 to schedule an office visit or if you need more information.

Will I Have to Pay a Lot for My Crown, Bridge, or Filling?

We know that cost is always a factor when considering dental procedures and we do our very best to keep our costs affordable while still maintaining our high level of restorative dentistry. During your first appointment, your dentist will examine your teeth and then you’ll be provided with a detailed list of fees that you’ll incur. We don’t want you to forego needed dental procedures because of the uncertainty of your dental crown cost or your dental bridge cost or your tooth filling cost. We’re willing to help you find solutions that might make the cost more affordable for the treatments you need. Call our Rockledge office at (321) 252-0825 for more information or to schedule your first appointment.

What Are My Options for Fillings?

The most commonly used fillings are gold, composite, porcelain, and silver amalgam. Ceramic is typically used for front teeth because it most closely resembles the color of your natural teeth. Not all fillings are suitable for all teeth but your dentist will recommend the most suitable fillings for your needs during your initial visit to our Rockledge office. Call us today at (321) 252-0825 to schedule your appointment.

What Are My Options for Crowns?

Like fillings, there are several options for crowns but they will be influenced by the location of the teeth and your overall dental health as well as your personal preference. Your dentist will recommend the most suitable type of crown for you after examining your teeth. Call us at (321) 252-0825 if you want more information or need to schedule an office visit in Rockledge.

What Are My Options for a Bridge?

Several types of dental bridges are available and the best for your situation will depend on the number and location of the teeth involved and whether there are adjacent teeth that can anchor the bridge. Your dentist can explain your options and answer all of your questions during your appointment, but call us at (321) 252-0825 if you need more immediate answers.

What Will Happen When I Get a Crown Installed?

Getting a crown installed requires two appointments at our office in Rockledge and each visit should take up to an hour. During the first appointment, your dentist will clean and shape your tooth and make an impression of it. You’ll receive a temporary crown and we’ll order your permanent crown. When it arrives, we’ll notify you. When you come in for your second appointment, your dentist will remove the temporary crown and install the permanent crown with a very high bond cement. Your crown is a permanent installation, you don’t need to remove it for cleaning. Call us today at (321) 252-0825 if you want to make an appointment for a crown installation in Rockledge.

What Will Happen When I Get a Bridge Installed?

Getting a bridge installed is very similar to getting a crown installed and will require two visits, each lasting up to an hour approximately. Your dentist will clean and prep the area and then take an impression from which we’ll fabricate your temporary bridge. We’ll order your permanent bridge and when it comes in, which can take up to several weeks, we’ll call you to schedule your second appointment. During your second visit, your dentist will remove your temporary bridge and install your permanent bridge with a very strong cement. Like a crown, your bridge is a permanent installation and doesn’t need to be removed for cleaning. Call our Rockledge office at (321) 252-0825 if you have more questions or want to schedule your initial office visit.
